Comprehensive Immigration Reform

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] -- Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) said today that he would like to see his DREAM Act serve as a catalyst for comprehensive immigration reform legislation introduced today by Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ). Durbin spoke at a press conference with Menendez and Senator Pat Leahy (D-VT), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Too often, US immigration policy is written during an era of raised xenophobic feelings and bigotry. This is one of those eras. The GOP court the bigot vote every day. In the end, what will this reform look like?

You are right about what you say to a certain degree, but you also have to think about what's really going on not just by what you see on the news, our Immigration system is BROKEN doesn't matter what other people say. Many Americans don't know how it even works. We have to fix the system, but that don't mean that we should give an amnesty.

I got a job at a restaurant because of e-verify and I even washed dishes and I am an American citizen. He was fired because of e-verify and a fake Social Security number which is a felony. Get a grip on reality , Senator Dick Durbin. We need jobs, by the way , not all hotel workers are illegal immigrants and restaurant workers.

I think Senator Durbin is neglecting over 20 % unemployment in US. Even top college graduates can't find a job. If illegal aliens cleaning ans washing dishes go back to their country, us citizens and legal aliens will be able to work . If we should not be deporting illegal aliens because deportation will break up family, then US citizens committing crimes should not be going jail when they break law as long as they have a family.
