@realfineguy Don't take this the wrong way cos you've obviously given your post a lot of thought, but if you know anything about Annie Lennox you would realize she only ever writes about herself. She does not do method writing. I remember reading that this was about her relationship with then husband, Uri - who was not dead then and is not dead now, 19 years later.

@fmallis She may say many things, some true, some not, but only she knows the truth. Artists use to create the aura around them (which doesn't mean that they dont have that aura). And I don't want to continue something you'd call 'silly exchange', there's no point. Take care

@fmallis You still don't get my point. Good for you that you've been listening to Annie for 30 years, it means you have good music taste. And great you have read sth about her. I also do read a lot about people I admire. But what I want to say is that she's an artist.

@kapusniorek All artists write about themselves. They have deap emotional life and many things come through them. But it doesn't mean at all that this song is only about her and her husband. It's about emotions which were involved then, and so many interpretations may be correct. Maybe she felt then like he was dead? Maybe she thought like that when she was writing this piece? What does it matter if he's still alive? This song will be actual for many people even 200 years afeter his death.
