arnold schwarzenegger in the begining?

How about you try an ACTUAL SAD SONG such as life and death- lost soundtrack

I think panopticon is the right Isis album to pull a "saddest song ever" from, that or oceanic, but I don't think backlit is the best choice. I always get a sort of paranoid feeling from that song more than a sad or depressive one. I'd have to go with something later in the album, like syndic calls or grinning mouths, maybe even will dissolve.

Kill yourself... please.

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails should be on this

This is the best one. I love every artist.

Iced Earth; some of their songs are sad yet powerful. I Died For You, Melancholy, A Gift or a Curse, When The Eagle Cries, etc.
Also, Reckless Burning by Jesse Sykes

thumbs up if the first song made you laugh ur ass off!
-
i cant believe u havnt used a single radioheadsong! "motionpicture soundtrack" or "videotape" chheck them out now!
We all die laughing by TAP is even sadder considering that Kris Angylus, the lead singer, couldn't play music shortly after the release of this album because of a badly broken hand. The depression that resulted drove him to commit suicide less than a year later. The Angelic Process was an innovative, original, and generally underappreciated band. RIP K.Angylus

Lime Tree - Bright Eyes (this especially)
ANYTHING from Bright Eyes' Fevers And Mirrors (very sad album)
Three Seed - Silversun Pickups
Castles Made Of Sand - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Evening Star - Fripp/Eno (early ambient drone music)
Wake Up - Arcade Fire (some people would disagree that it's sad)
How to Disappear Completely (And Never Be Found Again) - Radiohead
and if you like classical music.. Olivier Messiaen's Louange a l'Eternite de Jesus
