Ironside State School Year 7 students are thriving on a practical approach to learning mathematics. Since teachers implemented a new teaching approach in 2007, the students' maths competition entries and NAPLAN results in numeracy have improved dramatically. Students learn practical problem solving through 'real life' maths investigations such as ways to decrease electricity bills and comparative studies into superannuation schemes. Dedicated teachers also organise an annual maths day where students enjoy a wide variety of interactive learning activities. What has been achieved are students with a real 'love affair' of maths who are well equipped to tackle mathematics in high school, proving that Maths at Ironside State School does indeed 'all add up!'
