At long last! More Nite-Owl footage! (The first "new" Nite-Owl footage found for over 10 years!) Picture's a bit fuzzy, but of course we can't be picky.

Here is Part 1 of footage from a Nite-Owl New Year's "Special".

Modification Notice: In the interest of full disclosure, (since I try my best to keep things as authentic as possible here) I have to mention that in Part 1 I had to make some edits/overdubs in the audio only. The first one occurs at 02:44. In the original recording, the Nite-Owl "theme" of "Burning Bar" by Tangerine Dream did infact start playing, however it was quickly cut off with a homemade audio overdub by the person who originally recorded this footage. He was goofing around and making silly voices, so I took the liberty of overdubbing an edit of the Nite-Owl theme myself, to get rid of it and try to restore how it originally aired.

This continues until 03:32 at which point the recorder of this footage stopped overdubbing the audio and we return to original Nite-Owl music. However, by 03:50 he was back again overdubbing nonsense for an extended time, so I decided to edit in two songs which I thought would be appropriate and fit the Nite-Owl vibe of this period. The first one is "Moritat", the theme from The Threepenny Opera performed by The Dick Hyman Trio (which was used on FM-100 back in the day, and which you will recognize as the source of the popular tune "Mack the Knife").

Next, I had some more time to fill so I edited in "Groovin'" by Raymond Lefevre and his Orchestra, which you will likely recognize from WGN's Sunday Matinee program. There wasn't enough time left for the entire song, so it was faded out nicely in time to return to the original Nite-Owl audio at 07:07 playing a goofy easy listening version of "Mandy" by Barry Manilow! Thankfully, the original recorder of this footage didn't do any more audio overdubbing after this, so Part's 2 and 3 are all original.

This part aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, January 1st 1982 from about 3:59am to 4:05am.
