laura nyro : a fan's tribute

i have always loved laura nyro's music. she was beautiful, brilliant, talented, possesor of a great voice, a consumate showperson & musician ; caring, interested in life, people, and fun. i created a song in apple garageband in a style reminiscent of her own, and have put in pictures of ms nyro from the early years to the late years of her career. she passed away in 1997, at the premature age of 49, from ovarian cancer. the flower at the end of the posting is called a "laura nyro daylily". when you die (if you are famous enough) you might get a postage stamp or a public building named after you. i'd take the flower anyday, and i think laura would have, as well.

i agree debobeck. lately, i've been listening to diane birch ... she's talented, s great voice, and has a real '70's sensibility  to her work, not to mention being a great pianist. look for "ariel" or "nothing but a miracle" (preferably the david letterman version) on youtube. thanks for your comments and supposot.

wow, you have a good eye. i put it in by accident when i was looking for pictures of laura, but thought i might as well leave it in, they do sort of resemble each other back when she was much younger. glad you liked the video, i also have one for her great tune timer.

what a lady.. i grew up with laura being played and have loved her ever since!! yes overlooked, yes so talented, and so emotional..

even here later material had the same class.

Yet, the Music World tended to overlook her...maybe she was too much of a threat, because she was such a GENIUS!
