Premiering at the Sundance Film
Festival and the winner of the Best Documentary award at the Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee, Tis Autumn - The Search For Jackie Paris offers a poignant look at the life of a great but largely unheralded jazz singer.

In 1991, Raymond De Felitta was listening to the radio and heard a singer by the name of Jackie Paris. Entranced, De Felitta began researching Paris and learned that he had opened for Lenny Bruce and that his voice was admired by among others, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat Cole and Sarah Vaughn. However, his research abruptly ended when he read that the notoriously volatile Paris had died in 1977. De Felitta thought that was the end of the story but one night he spotted an advertisement listing Paris' comeback. Stunned, he wondered where had Paris been all these years, what had come of his life and why had a singer of this talent fallen into such obscurity.

Working with rare footage (including the final concert footage and last interviews Paris ever gave) and new interviews with jazz legends Billy Taylor, Mark Murphy and Ruth Price, De Felittas film is an intimate and moving portrait of a unique if troubled talent. Moreover, Tis Autumn also addresses the question of what it means to be an artist and highlights the perils and pitfalls of creative endeavour.

'Tis Autumn - The Search For Jackie Paris is released 21st November at selected cinemas across the UK.
