(Post 6 ) (Continuing reply) When used as directed FlyeBaby can offer a very convenient, comfortable and secure place for your baby, but Im realistic to know that not everyone is going to embrace the concept and thats OK. Im not out to convince every parent that they need a FlyeBaby, Im just offering a solution to parents that are already out there looking for an answer.

You are also correct that the FAA does recommend children to be in an approved restraint device and in the case of infants, a car seat is the only option because the CAREs system is for children ages 1 and older (22 and 44 lbs). FlyeBaby is not meant to offer a substitute or replacement to an approved device but it is giving people flying with lap babies another option. FlyeBaby was originally designed for my own daughter so safety features were my number one objective. (continued)

You are correct that his product has not been approved by the FAA, however, the FAA was consulted during the initial design stages of the product and they found no reason why it could not be used during the cruise portion of the flight. (FAA policy AC 120-87 14, Section 121.311) There are several baby products on the market that are not approved by the FAA but can still be used during the cruise portion of a flight and they can offer great benefits to the baby and the adult. Also, the design of the strapping on the back of the FlyeBaby seat allows for an even distribution of the weight and with the vertical and horizontal straps the weight is not pulling on the tray table. The adult does have a strap around their waist that has a buckle located on their hip area and this buckle allows for an easy and quick release from the FlyeBaby seat. (continued on next post)

I completely understand your concerns regarding this product and I would like to explain more about the product and hopefully this information will address the concerns that you listed.  Regarding the tray table and the weight concern; FlyeBaby creates a hammock-style seat so the majority of the babys weight rests on the adults knees and/or thighs (depending on the size of the adult) that is sitting with the baby and not on the actual tray table. There is a HUGE problem with this product. 1. The tray table is not meant to hold over 8lbs. 2. The adult is now tethered to the seat in front of them.

3. This has NOT been approved for use by the FAA. 4. FAA recommends children to be in an approved restraint device such as a car seat or C.A.R.E.S device.

I would highly recommend you NOT "educate" your flight attendant on F.A.R.'s.
