yeah that is a problem to me too, but i started using a keyboard or just simply not pressing on the wheel too hard.

one problem I'm having is rapidly scrolling, using the jog wheel, through long lists of titles. Occasionally I'll get kicked out of the list and have to start over. Is anyone else having this problem?

Sorry for the late reply. The jog wheel actually also function as a back and forward button if you tap either the left or right hand side. It seems like this might be the cause of your problem. If you keep even pressure on the wheel while rotating it you usually don't trigger these.
Using a keyboard for searching is really fast, if you're sick of using the jogwheel.
My problem turned out to be a cracked circuit board, for those interested.
