  • To criticize Mehldau because he's playing a brazilian song and it doesn't sound "brazilian" is the same as criticizing him for playing Black Hole Sun and not sounding rock n roll at all. Doesn't make any sense.

  • Why do you insist in being such an orthodox narrow-minded musician? Dont you know that melodies are independent and can be freely played in any manner. Of course B.M. is not trying to be Chico B. He's showing us how HE would play Chico's songs! Being this rigorous and narrow minded is ridiculous even when talking about classical music, like critisizing Gulda for his beethoven renditions. Art always adds, never subtracts. If you don't like this version, go listen to Chico!

  • @blogdocrato god what a bullshit festival of words we find here.

  • @flippenpinoi "and before Keith Jarrett, there were pianos, but nobody knew what to do with them...""" heheh

  • Fantastic! I´m mesmerized!

  • Listening to him play this theme makes me love him and Chico even more. They deserve each other.

  • I love how this song keeps building and building... just keeps switching keys... going up and up and up....

  • The key is in the hand of the drummer instillating brazilian accents accompanied by an inventive bass player while the pianist modulates greatly around the brazilian theme.

  • This performance amazes me each time I watch it

  • Should not be allowed to play so well!

  • there are things you'd like to reach always with you. this is one of them.

  • @speedskis777 i agree... when i think about how his left hand is better than my right i almost want to throw the towel and just give up. absolutely amazing. i've always felt that both of his hands are having a conversation with each other during this rendition and the one he has on the Live double CD
