Les Hatley's performance of the Travis Wammack instrumental "Scratchy" is the only cover on Hatley's album Second Chair. The instrumental was originally released by Wammack in 1964 and was his first tune to hit the American music charts. Travis Wammack later went on to form part of the Muscle Shoals music movement and spent time as Little Richard's band leader.
Second Chair is an album of mostly instrumentals showcasing Les Hatley's prowess on the electric guitar. The songs were also penned by Hatley with the exception of "Scratchy" and "In the Morning," a song that was co-written and sung by Billy Bowman.

Killer guitar playing. Really unique stuff here. Especially love the vocal solo at 1:18. This band is super tight.

A GREAT version of Travis Wammack's Scratchy. That's gotta be Blake on a 5-string bass! Love the horns, too. And some Hendrix feedback at the end ... doesn't get any better than that!
BRAVO! Well done!!!
