This is beautiful and Veronique Gens is a gifted Mozartian soprano. Her Countess in Figaro is magnificent. The embellishment and little flourishes she sings aren't excessive and they are quite lovely. In Mozart's time, the divas used even grander embellishments so here, at least, Veronique is still singing with respect to the original music and it's quite lovely. This is very period-perfect and gorgeously sung.

I really like this version but for me it`s no the best, only diferent, Tekanawa has a very mozartian beautiful way of sing and Schawrzkopf and specially Janowitz made the diference and the stile of the Mozart opera in their age, And for me is really extrange how Jacobs use laud for the continuo in Mozart!!

It's really great, with a lot of emotion and stuff, until she misses the high notes at the end. They're just a tiny bit under. I'm bummed, because it really detracts from the whole.
