This is a wood gasifier using a jet ejector pump to provide operating suction. The high velocity fan air mixes with and drags the wood gas through the system so that it can burn at the flare exit.
Fair Question. A gasifier is a device that turns solid fuel like wood chunks or coal into a flammable synthetic natural gas called syngas, wood gas, or town gas. It's a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Town gas was commonly used in the 1920's for cooking and lighting. Most experimenters today were sucking the hot creosote containing gas they made through a fan. This video demonstrates a way to keep the fan clean and out of the gas stream so it doesn't fry or seize.
please excuse my ignorance, but what does it do and what is it used for?
