KMSP Channel 9 of Minneapolis St Paul. These are commercials and promos that played between Casper and friends. Look for the old Message placard that was between commercial breaks featuring the Channel 9 cartoon lineup. Also look for great promos for Diffrent Strokes, Little House on the Prarie, He Man and MOTU, and Champs sportswear.

  • Not only did the mini-nets ruin TV, cable is also to blame. With a zillion channels to pick from, all the good programming is spread pretty thin. Back in the good old days there was no need to "channel surf" like we do today. It was easy to find something good to watch with just a handful of channels. Now it's American Idol, and other "reality" dreck that clogs the airwaves. Now we have to rely on YouTube to see stuff like this.

  • So THAT'S who did the voiceovers on 9. Hearing that voice again brings back fond memories of being a kid, sitting in front of the TV in the afternoon/early evening, watching Little House or Wonder Woman, while Mom toils away in the kitchen making dinner.

  • Diff'rent Strokes was already in syndication in 1984?

  • ahhh heathcliff........the poor man's garfield! ;-)

  • cable killed them, EI requirements keep them on life support

  • Syndicated kids shows seem to be a thing of the past. Heck, Saturday morning cartoons are all but dead, too :(

  • I remember these. Brings back memories. KMSP was always my favorite channel. What ever happened to these kinda stations? Everything's been bought out now or what?

  • That would be interesting to see.

  • Aw man thanks for posting this!

  • Does anyone know whatever became of Ernie Martz? He was the announcer for most of the voiceovers seen here, and was the station's main weatherman and on-air announcer for most of the 1970's.
