So, I've seen other Moon shots with the SX30 and had to do it myself.
Crappy tripod, cold night, urban backyard, Auto setting, everything that would make this a bad shot. Got out, set up, point, record, zoom, zoom, zoom, stop recording, got out of the cold. Yet it turned out pretty good.
From original .MOV file, Auto settings, 0x - 35x zoom + 4x digital
Audioswap with YT "Clair de Lune", 'cause it just worked.
What was that light that flew in and out around 1:57 mins?

@Darathy6661 I'm not sure what you've seen.
This video was uploaded directly from the original unedited recording. From about 1:39 to about 1:45 as I zoom out and in again you can see Jupiter below and to the left as a white speck. But around 1:57, plus and minus a few frames, I didn't see a light fly in or out, the Moon just comes back into focus.

@walkertongdee
Sunset over Lake Michigan from the Chicago side is problematic. Maybe I'l do a sunrise and run it backwards.
Shooting into a lightsource with a digital camera seems to always make those streaks. I believe that it is inherent to the CCD chip. If anyone has a better explaination, or a way to stop the streaks, let me know.

When it is zoomed out (moon becomes small) you can see Jupiter below and to the left.

Why do SX30 owners shoot the Moon?
Because they can.
