Brisbane Festival 2011: Pesta Rakyat (Party for the People)

Immerse yourself in all things Indonesian at Pesta Rakyat (Party for the People), an event celebrating Indonesia's Independence Day.

Your senses will be taken on a cultural journey from the mouth-watering flavours of Indonesian delicacies, to visual delights of modern art, dance and fashion. Enjoy traditional music and join in on traditional games at this special one day event.

Produced by The Indonesian Students Association of Queensland and the Indonesian Society of Queensland, the theme this year is based around the beauty of Indonesian batik -- the traditional fabric of Indonesia and one of the country's most highly developed art forms.

Take part in batik making workshops and wander through the batik exhibition, before heading over to QUT Festival Theatre to enjoy a concert featuring a line up of Indonesian bands.
