  • so I bought one of the 650s (not the L with the override )---- used it on some door casing ---- just plain ranch casing --- pine --and I found it had a hard time sinking the pin below the surface. I had the compressor up to around 100psi . I know it says to use the 650 @ 120 psi for hard woods but this was just pine. what do you think -- do I have a defective unit?

  • billfromelma, thanks for your comments. Insufficient air pressure is the most common reason for not sinking pins below the surface. If you're driving pins longer than 1-3/8", we recommend 110psi. The second most common reason is if the tool is allowed to bounce when driving pins. Make sure the tool is held down firmly. Because the fasteners are so fine, its more crucial to prevent bouncing in order to set pins below the surface as the tool should. Feel free to contact us directly at 888-4GREXCO.

  • @hydeph thank you ---- I'll take it back and see if they give me a new one --- I'll let you know.

  • @billfromelma sounds defective, yes, i had a MAX brand nailer which is identical to this, and it sunk pins 1 inch and longer in maple and hickory - pine should not be an issue
