This is a real radio commercial put out by Northstar Ford in Alberta, Canada as a way to deal with a recent theft - in my opinion - brilliant!

To be honest, they're called split rims because the outer rim (again, the part that touches the tire) is literally a hoop with a split in it. The tire is removed by wedging that rim in and out of the rest of the wheel.

Split rims are not the same as multi piece, high-dollar wheels you might find on race cars or ghetto rigs.

Because you're wrong. Rim designates the area of the wheel that touches the tire. Some two and three piece wheels do have removable rim areas that are bolted and sealed with the other pieces to make an air tight fit.

The term rim comes from idiotic rappers who never learned the difference and spread the term like wildfire in their songs.

You are welcome to Google the term before you come back even more wrong.

A rim is a wheel. It is not part of a wheel. RIMS are WHEELS. hubcaps are wheel covers. there are no other parts to it other than lugnuts and tires. why do some people not get this?

Lug nuts hold on the wheel. He said the rims (outer part of a wheel) and tires were stolen.
