@CreativeOutletHobbie - for my carving chisels, and kitchen knives, I use my palm to break the final burr.

You start off with a nice stroke or two then go to crap. Why going so fast? Also elite paper cutting comes with a wire edge also so it is a pretty bad test.
-
Don't forget to use the hand guard rods.....
-
@Stridersng1 I haven't had an issue with it.

d2 is ment to be done with a grinder

Good vid, for those of you sharpening a 710, use only the sharp/angular profiled edge of the rod. Dont want to lose that sexy albeit hard to sharpen recurve. You think not using the flat (more aggressive) edgeon the 710 is part of the difficulty? Have started edc inga milli cause I am not happy with the edge on my BM. Only have the two sets of rods.

You do realize that the sharpmaker only offers 30/40' angles, right?

I'm considering buying a Spyderco Sharpmaker but I don´t know what kind of rods would be better for my ZDP-189 and S30V blades. Are many different kinds of diamond Spyderco rods?
sorry I am a noob but whats a belt stropper? or w.e its called? and whats it do

@Darkstar2520 its just a thick piece of raw leather. You may have seen one in a barber shop. I personally use the backside of an old leather belt.

Do you use an actual strop? I was wondering if an old leather belt would work.

I mentioned in the video that I use an old belt for stropping.

Thanks. I thought about the diamond/ultrafine, but I didn't think it was worth it. Looks like you have good results with them so I have to reconsider.

@mongomondomongo start with the ultrafine. Diamond are good but really just for special projects, re-profiling.
