Really? So Peter, Paul and everyone of the Apostles lied to the early converts to Jesus Christ? They all ordered baptism as a sign of belief under the Great Commission. Matthew baptized in Jesus' name. So did Mark and Luke. I can prove this by the scriptures. Now many people quote their churches, who are cursed by Paul in Gal 1:6-10. He by belief was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus in Acts 22:16. He said (and wrote 13 letters which all agree that baptism in Jesus name is required) so.
Go ahead and PROVE IT then ! How are you gonna prove it ??? You can't use the Bible... that requires faith. Can't use the Greek and Hebrew text ..that's just MORE writing,
I have debated with several atheists on the internet, believe me you can't PROVE any of it. God did'nt make himself visible to us {you or I} and even if he did ..who would believe you if you told them that you SAW God??? But go ahead and prove it , and we'll see if I'm talking from a comic book.
@ydnar0591 "We don't live by PROOF. We are supposed to LIVE BY FAITH, there's a BIG difference." Well, you SHOULD demand proof! God "made his case" in the New Testament. Faith is not some "leap in the dark" - some series of ASSUMPTIONS defying logic and rational thinking. And no matter, I still do not recall your interpretation of Acts 2: 38, except you said "Repent because your sins were already remitted", I think. If not, that's close.
@ydnar0591 I don't recall you giving a detailed explanation of (1) the order of events in Acts 2: 38 or (2) with which verb(s) "unto the remission" connects. It's easy to simply assert, with no proof, that "unto the remission" means "because of" - but "unto" does not MEAN "because of" (that I know of). Also, as far as I'm concerned, "unto the remission" connects equally with both "repent" and "be baptized."
