Dad trialed the RT 300 FES(Functional Electrical Stimulaion) Cycle on April 7, 2011. It is a high tech stationary bike for people in wheelchairs. The therapist put electrode pads on Dad's legs and back and hooked them to the computer on the bike. The purpose of the trial was to determine if his muscles and brain would respond or not. If he passed then the bike could be beneficial to him. The therapist said if it worked he would probably be able to go for 7 to 10 minutes. The motor got started and at the two minute mark Dad's legs and brain took over. He powered the bike, through the electrical stimulation, for 15 minutes! The trial was a success. The next day Dad had no swelling in his legs for the first time since the accident 7 months ago and his painful spams were greatly reduced!
