Arthroscopic surgery of my left knee. Not exactly sure what the doctor did, but she claims NOT to have touched my meniscus, articular cartilage, or ligaments, and instead only removed scar tissue. Does that make sense, where would the scar tissue me from?

  • what type of anestesia where you on during this process? i want to do the general anestesia but im worried the doctor might not let me

  • general anestesia

  • Roughly 1 year later, I am running, but I have some wicked muscles imbalances where my left leg doesn't work as well as the right one. I had done 4+ months of physio after and continue to do exercises a few times/wk. I am considering going back to continue to increase the strength.

My advice to anyone looking into knee surgery is to take physiotherapy _very_ seriously. Don't be passive about it. It will probably be something you need to do for the rest of your life.

  • Wow haha I'm 16 and having this surgery next week, now I'm getting nervous haha thanks for posting this, now I know what they're doing :) haha

  • The anesthetic was general and an arthroscopy here in england is done under general. I didn't see any needles as the gave me gas and air to drift me off and out the needle in when i had gone so i just rmeber the mask on my face and then waking up with the nurse asking me how I am. Hope that anwsers any quastions :)

  • I just had mine done on my left knee yesturday I also work for the surgon that done it, and in the hospital i had it done in. I am fine waling with crutches its a bit sore. The surgon said about 2 weeks till i can walk normal and to be off work.

  • @littlemansymoo Thats the same thing that my orthopedic surgeon did... I got pictures though, not a video.

  • I can tell you right off the bat that she was probing your meniscus for quite a while, she was checking for meniscal tears, its just what a lot of surgeons do. once they go into the knee they check everything to make sure everything is where it should be and that everything is in good shape. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I've had 4 major surgeries in the past 16 months all inlciding an arthroscopy each time.

  • I've had a torn miscus and sretched acl since 89"

Never had surgery and I can snowboard

  • Always be sure to clarify with your doctor so everyone is on the same page with issues pertaining to your recovery.
