Mort Mather, one of the first certified organic farmers in Maine and the third president of the Board of Directors of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) delivers this keynote address at MOFGA's Common Ground Country Fair on September 23, 2011. Mort goes back in time with stories of the early years of MOFGA and the Common Ground Country Fair when the first Harry S. Truman Manure Pitching Contest, in 1977, was a quadrathalon. And provides some insight into how the first state organic organization in the United State came into being, and why it developed into the largest in the nation.

  • No farmer, no food. Excellent video!

  • just read an article how Scarborough, Maine, the city approved a policy that prohibits the use of synthetic pesticides on all town-owned property. Awesome job out that way, I'm sure you've played a large role. Thanks!
