80`s Best Hits
No More I Love yous the Original version by Lover Speaks.
"No More "I Love You's" is a song written by Joseph Hughes and David Freeman and was first released by their band, The Lover Speaks, in 1986.
It peaked the UK singles chart at #58 [1].

The song was later covered by the Scottish singer Annie Lennox and became a hit for her in 1995.

Lyrics:

I used to be lunatic from the gracious days
I used to be woebegone and so restless nights
My aching heart would bleed for you to see
Oh but now...
I don't catch myself bouncing home whistling buttonhole tunes to make me cry
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me
No more "I love you's"
Changes are shifting outside the word
(The lover speaks about the monsters)
I used to have demons in my room at night
Desire,despair,desire,so many monsters
Oh but now...
I don't catch myself bouncing home whistling buttonhole tunes to make me cry

No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me in silence
No more "I love you's"
Changes are shifting outside the word

They were being really crazy
They were on the come.
And you know what mammy?
Everybody was being really crazy.
Uh huh.
The monsters are crazy.
There are monsters outsides.

No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me in silence
No more "I love you's"
Changes are shifting outside the word

  • You posted the lyrics for the Annie Lennox version buddy.

  • They are both REALLY good versions. though i think this one is more my style. not saying Annie Lennox's version is lesser. they are both equally great. just this one feels more for me. *shrugs*

  • Hi They just meant for the person singing to say that he/she wasn't going to say 'I love you' again, that is why the lyric states: 'no more 'i love yous.' When my son died I wrote a song for him which had the words, 'No lullabyes, no kiss goodnight, no dry your eyes, 'cos, hey everything's gonna be alright.' It is sort of on the same lines as no more I love yous.

  • @Seaventeares please do not worry! I'm not touchy and you improved my English, so thanks. Far from being upset, I was a bit taken by surprise; but I then appreciated your concern and stood corrected; now I appreciate your kindness. Thanks again

  • @uffx3 sorry if I upset you. I wouldn't do that on purpose. I apologise for that. Best wishes Seaventeares
