Two Super Sophomores: Iverson vs Kobe - 1997/98

22 year old A.I puts on a show against the visiting Lakers who have 19 year old Kobe Bryant coming off the bench.

An exciting action packed game which I taped off TV back in November 1997. This was Michael Jordan's last year in the league and I set the VCR that night thinking these 2 young guys (Iverson and Bryant) would be the ones to watch after MJ leaves and this would be a game to save. The tape lasted 12 years, and several house moves (across 3 countries!) before turning up in my 'Box of crap!' along with a stack of SLAM magazines and a Powerbook Duo (!!)

@m3sexyballer not to mention a.i took the worst team to great heights and reached the finals, and he's a better scorer and passer than kobe. only his defence isnt as good, but it actually is against other PG's. since they put a.i as SG his defence looks shit, but he is the shortest SG in the league and possible all time. ppl dont EVER take proper things into account, stats dont mean shit.

@m3sexyballer UR 100% RIGHT! im sick and tired of ppl talking about A.i's %, when he had to be his own playmaker, had to create his own shots, and the only time he ever got 2nd chances was with mutombo. kobe rode shaq's dick and got that shit, and EVEN his allstar games he rode on the back of the HUGE western allstars, so ASG dont mean shit! especially when EVERY1 knew he hogged the ball to get the trophy in the 2011 ASG. if ai had the wes squad he could get at least 6 asg mvp

@m3sexyballer lol yes thats right. See Kobe Bryant was by far talented,but he needed more time to develop a jumper and learn the basics. Iverson was just an insane talent. Sure on the bad side he shot bad percentages, never played man to man defense but he still made up for his scoring and heart and willing to win. Plus Kobe never led a shit team to the finals like Iverson because Kobe had Shaq and Kobe fans seem to forget that. I love Kobe too but Iverson dominated since day 1
