Keep in mind that A) Alan is delivering liones written for him. and B)they may have cut out the info about more than one king for time purpouses, and just explaining that the man they were speaking to was in charge of his area.

Tshivhase is not the king of Venda - there is no such thing! He is the King of his area, and there are many other Kings in the former homeland! If you are interesed in finding out more I can send you my phd thesis on tshivhase politics etc...

That's very interesting--that there are many kings of Venda. I only know what Alan Alda says, and I'm disappointed that he's incorrect.
If your thesis is online, please link to it. I would be interested in reading it.
I posted this for a friend who was in the Peace Corps and lived with a Venda family (not sure that I'm using "Venda" correctly here).
