I've got some wool-ease here at home and it says on the label to use a size 8 needle. I think I heard you mention you were using a size 6? Go up a size and see if that works. To me when you tried it on it didn't look that stretched out. You have a lot of hair and you said your mom does not have as much hair as you do. It might be just right for her. Jennlikesyarn on YouTube is a knitter, she might be able to give you some more pointers. Reach out to her.
@dalequan I really like the windy city one, thank you so much! I think I'll do that one and make the ribbing longer so my mom can fold it up over her ears.
Wool Ease size six needles...are you a loose or tight knitter? if you are a tight knitter you may want to go up 2 needle sizes or switch to a bulkier yarn than wool ease. You could also pick another attractive hat pattern..
@dalequan I go in between loose and tight knitting, but loose most of the time. Thank you, I will try larger needles. I don't have a store nearby where I can get more yarn quickly enough. I also thought I'd look for another pattern with horseshoe cables.
