The A330 MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport) is based on the successful A330-200, a medium-to-long range, twin aisle, twin engine, commercial aircraft of the Airbus family. Its design combines a proven fly-by-wire control system and advanced avionics with the most up-to-date manufacturing techniques, enabling highly competitive economics.

More than 1000 of these aircraft have been sold to over 80 customers and more than 700 are in operation all around the globe, ensuring easy support and many years of commercial life ahead.

  • Included in the "1000 of these aircraft" is one at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Air France flight 447 with all its, "proven fly-by-wire control system and advanced avionics with the most up-to-date manufacturing techniques," couldn't save it from a thunderstorm.

  • First refuel are two Vipers (F-16's), one is from The Portuguese Air Force and the other I couldn't tell.

Second refuel are two F-18's from The Spanish Air Force and the third is a NATO AWAC.
