We're singing this through once in French and then once in English so that the people at our concert can understand what we are saying. But mixing it up like that is just weird.
We are taking this song to contest this year. I love the aggression of the lyrics. I wish we were singing it with the English parts in it though. We are singing it all the way through in French.
Um... when I did it in college (for the sake of audience interaction) we sang: "There's a poor man in our village; jealous of his wife was he; he was jealous for good reason, for she is a sight to see!" and "If to market she should venture, he would always go along; never from her side to wonder, then he's sure she'd do no wrong"......hey, la, la ,la. Do I dare? Don't I dare? Do I dare to say it? La, la, la, tell me that I may. Or la, la, la...I'll say it anyway!
um isn't it "there's a man in a nearby village jealous of his wife you see, he has good cause to be jealous handsome not at all is he" and "when his wife goes to the market he will follow close behind watching every move she makes to see no trouble she will find"
this is the exact way my choir had to sing this song...
