now that drum roll we use in the revolution (yes i do Revolutionary war at Fort Stanwix) and i am one of their three drummers and we use that as our assembly and yea so just thought to help to clear it up

What happened to Three Camps? A long roll was not used for Reveille. The title of this video is incorrect.

Was that military historian on drugs @ Kyprice08? The long roll is used only if a call to arms is needed immediately and the camp or fort is about to be overrun. Think of it like the military of today calling for a broken arrow. Bruce and Emmett have a reveille version althougbh some argue that Bruce and Emmett were not the commonly used book of instruction. WOuld be more fuckin accurate then the garbage you have out there though

@HerrCollier This is, of course, a very simplified stance and overview on drum cadences and their involvement in military movements and formations of the day (aka 1800s; 30s to 80s). Pretty standard stuff in proverbially modern armies of the time, right up to the first world war. Not saying it was the BEST of ideas, but it sure as hell worked at the time....well shit, maybe THAT'S why the Civil War was so damn bloody!

Many of the drum rolls sound pretty similar at first glance, so to speak. They were designed that way, in part, with the purpose in mind that only US-army trained troops would actually understand what actual formations and movements each drum cadence meant, to avoid any rebellious insurrection or activity during troop movements, and of course to further cement overall discipline into the ranks.

sounds more like assembly for the rev war and yes i do the rev war drumming :) and our reveille is way different
-
it sounds more like the continuing roll of execution
-
@kyprice08 Then your historian needs to learn to read a period manual
-
That doesn't sound like Reveille. The Reveille included the Three Camps, but not a long roll. The long roll was used as the call "To Arms."

If B&E is too advanced look into Hearts, It is simpler and just as if not more historically accurate
The drum rolls that you hear were performed by Musicians that have studied the Civil War and the various uses of drums as military commands. They were authenticated by a Military Historian. Thanks for your comment.
