The Invasive Plant Species (IPS) Education Lessons were developed with funding from a Wisconsin Environmental Education Board Forestry Education Grant. The goal is to get students involved with invasive plant species monitoring and removal projects in nearby natural areas. This is almost an infomercial for glyphosphate. We don't want you poisoning our natural areas. There's simply no spray for global warming.

Lie #1: "they are taking over niches in our little ecosystem...pretty soon you have a natural community that is dominated by non-native stuff...and you start losing diversity..." This is xenophobia ("winning the battle". There is no evidence that invasive species disrupt ecosystem services, there is evidence that the introduction of non-natives has increased biodiversity in many instances. In all cases, human activities and the lack of predators are the problem, not the species themselves.
