  • This video symbolizes the fact that with Paul Hester's Death the Band would Never Be The Same.

  • God bless Paul Hester. But let us cut Matt Sherrod some slack? No one could replace HESSIE. But Matt has made his own mark and has done quite well. Stop being fucking snobs and cut the man some slack, Matt is good, very good. So...GET OFF HIS ASS. Good luck Matt. God bless you Hessie.

  • I don't think anyone could replace Paul Hester. Matt Sherrod has never even tried. What he has done, in my opinion, has tried to make his own mark within the band. I believe that he's done so more than anyone could have done given the circumstances. Good luck Matt... In my opinion you've done well. And you will continue to do so. God bless you Hessie... You are missed.

  • what a great band. RIP Paul.

Yeah, it's a shame. I guess Neil doesn't rate it that highly?

  • @agramsci I don't know, 'Hole In The River' is very directly about suicide, does anyone know if Neil is playing that one either? Paul's death is such a tragedy. :(

  • @agramsci Well he did perform 'don't dream its over' solo for Hessie! I never saw the connections of the first line with death - it's about getting your act together, rather than lamenting the end of another's life? There are plenty of songs that are closer to the bone - she goes on being one. Maybe it's a problem when your back catalogue is so large...

  • Me recopa esta cancion

  • @agramsci

Not sure about that. Neil Finn has a history of confronting uncomfortable events in his songs, for example "Hole in the River". And much of "Time on Earth" is clearly about the aftermath of Hester's death.

  • Do you think that maybe in light of Hessie's suicide that Neil might not want to perform it? I don't know. Seems a bit close to the bone.
