More than $100bn has been spent on Iraq's reconstruction projects, with about $50bn coming from the US, according to a recent report by Stuart Bowen, the special inspector-general for Iraq Reconstruction.
Bowen recently told the House Armed Services Committee that much of the money was lost to wastage, abuse and fraud, leaving very little for actual construction work - much of which is said to be substandard.
In response, some blame corrupt Iraqi officials and the reluctance of the government to make full use of the resources that have been available to them to rebuild the country.
Well said, I agree
The way to properly insulate Iraq from the monstrous neighbours of Iraq is by ending religious politics in Iraq, and starting a logical, DEMOCRATIC, SECULAR, and objective government
Hopefully the next elections will bring forth better people to power... Hopefully democracy will truly work

I'm loving inside iraq, and this segment on the process of rebuilding the oldest nation in the world was no exception. Dr. Alsammarae's objective big-picture focus on political stability as the key to unlocking iraq's true potential was a very refreshing departure from the usual sectarian / emotional fiasco that so much of arab politics can deteriorate into these days. His is a clear voice with a clear vision. Dr. Wahid wld do well to broaden his mechanical approach & take a page from his book

Dr. Alsammarae,
You are a voice of reason in an otherwise illogical and enslaved political system. Iraq has been destroyed while the US has spent billions of dollars all to "free" Iraq from the shackles of Saddam Hussein only to turn around and enslave Iraq to the government of Tehran. Iraq, our strong beloved country, is being led by the incompetent lackey's of the Persian regime and it will never be rebuilt while those who pledge allegiance to any other flag remain in power.

"Like censorship, no standards of product quality and working conditions, etc... or no enforcement anyway."

You know that America and China are formed in the same way right? Through war and murder.

what does that have to do with the point?
I can look at chinese policies from here
Are you trying to go on a tangent and make a point outside the topic that I am not getting?
Spell it out, otherwise its closed, I dont have to go to china to know about its human rights violations.
Personally, I am neutral on the issue. Other countries can do what they want as long as it doesnt interfere with my country.
To each his own.
