Each church in the Christian world is entitled to set the style and parameters of its worship and atmosphere, including the RC.
That said, I must contrast Benedict with His All Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Eastern Orthodox. Interviewed recently on U.S. network CBS, he lives a simple, pious existence. No royal court theatrics. No army of genuflecting servants. A tiny office and simple desk. The contrast says it all.

I love how Protestants seem to always confuse their "helping the poor" with what they really do, extort them to be "saved" n exchange for aid. Worship to God is not something to be forced, it's something to be felt in your heart freely without obligation.
