  • Great idea to put Folkways music on YouTube, it would be better to put original videos!

  • I had this record and misplaced it, my father bought it when I was little. As near as I can tell, after listening to the Scottish and Irish music that this song was supposed to have descended from, this is the way Bonaparte's Retreat is supposed to sound. Check out The Eagle's Whistle.

  • @EEPIIFFAANNY You're probably right, that Bonaparte's retreat would probably have sounded something like this originally. Do you (or does anyone else, for that matter) know how William H. Stepp wound up playing Bonaparte's Retreat the way he did?
