From the 1972 Album "Eagles"

I lost ten points just for being in the right place
at exactly the wrong time
I looked right at the facts there, but I may as well have
been completely blind
So, if you see me walking all alone
Don't look back, I'm just on my way back home
there's a train leaves here this morning, and
I don't know, what I might be on
She signed me to a contract, baby said it would
all be so life long
I looked around then for a reason
when there wasn't something more to blame it on
But, if time makes a difference while we're gone
Tell me now, and I won't be hanging on
There's a train leaves here this morning
and I don't know, what I might be on
ooo, ooo, ooo.. etc...
1320 North Columbus was the address
that I wrote down on my sleeve
I don't know just what she wanted
might have been that it was getting time to leave
and I watched as the smoker passed it on
and I laughed when the joker said, "Lead on."
cause there's a train leaves here this morning
and I don't know, what I might be on
And there's train leaves here this morning
and I don't know, what I might be on

  • finnaly. A video without dislikes :) Love this song

  • The song was mostly written by Gene Clark and the original version with Clark on lead vocal performed by Dillard & Clark is less slick and more soulful. However this is a beautiful rendition.

  • they really SHOULD have let bernie sing lead on so much more than they did! a fantastic musician, indeed! all these great early eagles tunes remind me of being young and innocent down in my beautiful san diego. when henley and frey embark on their 40th ann. eagles tour this year, wouldn't it be INCREDIBLE if they brought along bernie leadon and randy meisner! to see the eagles and hear 'train leaves here this morning' and 'midnight flyer', would be THE show to see before you die! IN SAN DIEGO!!

  • Bernie- Your contributions to the Eagles were so underated!

  • There's a train leaving here this morning, and it's taking with it a song that defines the Eagles like no other.

  • two people suck at life.

  • I always loved this song and the album. Played the heck out of this album and still have it somewhere

  • good stuff, before they went mainstream & ripped off Poco

  • @Pinzhead Thanks for mentioning this! I think Gene Clark's music is beginning to get some of the recognition it so richly deserves, but every little bit helps. The Eagles weren't the only ones to score a hit off of a Gene Clark song. While doing a cover is a nice form of tribute, I think it's always good to know the original artist. I'm a huge G.C. fan, needless to say!

  • Some B*S*T*D Disliked The Video!

  • Bernie Leadon was the best singer in the group but thats only my opinion. To me The Eagles lost some magic when he left and completly went to $h!t when Randy Miesner left
