Stewart Lee - The Reason I hate Top Gear

EDIT: Soon to be available in poorly-rendered 3D.. you know, if you want to feel like a mini Stew is walking around in front of your face annoying top gear fans.

A little preview I put together of Stew's newest, and funniest DVD, with a clip of the "Top Gear" routine that caused all the controversy in the papers last year. This the first 5 minutes of a 40-minute routine that becomes hilarious, thought-provoking, provocative and intelligent and is the highlight of the show.

Putting top gear hatred aside if he were at least funny about it I could be convinced. But all he does it rag and rag on how much he hats top gear and points out the little mindless nuances that any adult with a full brain can deduce on their own.

He hates top gear. Got it. Womens rights issues are near and dear to him. Got it. Liberal issues are important to him. Got it.

Full disclosure, I love top gear so I have no problem with him hating me.

I've stated this elsewhere but, just for clarity, I'd like to point out that this is not the entire routine as I deliberately left out the "punchline". Which is to say that he's not just slagging off Top Gear for the sake of it but that all you see here is actually half of what is an intelligently structured piece of comedy. You're allowed to not like it, I just wanted to make the point that he's playing a "character" onstage and the joke is always on him, not who he is "attacking". Cheers.

Top Gear is hardly a car show. It's a comedy show with some cars in it. Otherwise females wouldn't watch it.

I don't watch Top Gear, cause I don't like lifestyle shows in general (shows about cooking, decorating, driving, clothing, fishing etc.). But I don't hate them either, as long as I don't have to watch them. But it is annoying that some people don't have anything else to talk about except some reality or lifestyle crap they watch on TV.

I like Top Gear because of James May. I regard Clarkson as being a bit like Alan Partridge or Al Murray - an amusing parody (and I think probably Clarkson regards himself this way too). I hate the term 'political correctness', and think perhaps it should be replaced by the term 'basic human courtesy'.
