2nd of 2 videos to reflect on how fragile our infrastructure is, how dependent we are on it and how some of us came together to surmount the obstacles. This storm brought out the best in some and the worst in others. May adversity bring out the best in you.

This was also a good chance to get acquainted with Kdenlive, the best free non-linear video editing software for Linux, period! Two small problems I ran into installing it were easily overcome by visiting the developer web site and installing the most up to date version and dependencies. Here are the terminal commands that smoothed out all the wrinkles. This first one adds the repository and installs in one shot.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kdenlive

2nd glitch I ran into was garbled sound. Seems Kdenlive doesn't play nice with Pulse audio unless you tell it to. Here's what worked for me. This was found at http://www.kdenlive.org/user-manual/troubleshooting-and-common-problems/sound...

sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

Getting closer every day to deleting all of my winblows partitions.

  • Yeah, I know. I just upgraded my home computer and reloaded all new applications. Need to get back to editing videos.

  • So I guess... now he's looking at wood as an alternate energy source?

  • @justinsn95 LOL! No. But I might rely on it more as a traditional energy source! :-P

  • Charlie Chaplin silent movies piano tune. Love it...

  • @lwblack64 Maple Leaf Rag

  • Your still alive I see after #298, the tree didn't kill you in this one, you might wont to stop pushing your luck, it may run out!

  • @HaveHandsOpen I put myself in more danger at the wheel of the truck and far more often than I was cutting this tree. Every day is a crap shoot.

  • Hoorah for using Linux !!!!!!

  • looking forward for Video#300. I've also made a PWM based on you schematics and I thank you for that. I'll probably post it here on Youtube once i've done the calibrations. :)

  • I like how the person in the red truck got the hell out of there instead of helping... I also like the Polan saw, only because it is made in the USA. I use a Stihl. You can drop off some of that wood over here any time for my Energy Bootlegger while you are busy working out perpetual motion. HNY 2012

  • hello.... long time no comment... lol found some interesting stuff on the net since your last update... and i was wonderin when we could get a update on your new motor. I was hoping for at least one or two updates since then. I hope you had a very merry christmas, and i hope the new year brings new and better things for you and yours! CHEERS!

  • "You're a hero".. Well sure you are, this is the first video I see with you after the first part in PWM tutorial, so I have no info about you, what you do and so on. But nevertheless, no matter if you work with taking down trees that have formed an obstruction or not, great job! Merry Christmas as well!

  • Hey Zero, I hope you enjoy the Holidays, I am very much looking forward to the next phase of the Muller Motor project...
