I've had a lot of messages asking why I've been off YT awhile. I wanted to try new directions in drumming, in particular linear fills. I bought a really helpful book called "Linear Drumming" by Mike Johnston (www.mikeslessons.com), who's one of the best drummers you'll see. These fills, some of which I'm attempting here, take a lot of practice to play and then successfully incorporate into a song.
This song is pretty much a blank canvas to play how you like. I just downloaded it yesterday, but it's a good tempo for me to play 32nd note and 16th note triplet linear fills. This performance can definitely be improved upon as some licks don't work or are boring. I can also tell some that are straight from the book. I've only been playing hip-hop six weeks and I'll try to improve from here.
Please don't comment that I overplayed this song or am not as good as Aaron Spears. We know that already.
