Team 60 is the aerobatic demonstration team of the Swedish Air Force.

The team, at the time still unnamed, was formed in 1974 as a group of 4 SK 60 (Swedish Air Force designation for the SAAB 105) from the Air Force Central Flying School at Ljungbyhed AFB in southern Sweden. The year after another two airplanes was added, and in spring of 1976 the first display under the new name Team 60 was flown in Gothenburg.

Although occasionally being reduced to four, the team flies with six airplanes based in Linköping

Unlike some other air force display teams, the team members here are not full time display pilots but in most cases senior flight instructors from the Swedish Air Force.

  • Indeed they can, i.e. pull tighter curves than, e.g. the JA37 Viggen.

I have seen that myself, inside an SK60 that was able to get behind a JA 37 from former F17.

We were out on an attack mission when we were intercepted by two Viggen over the "Hanöbukten" and ended up in a dogfight. My pilot was pretty cocky after that... :-)

  • @myrslok517 6g

  • Whats the turn rate of the SK60?

  • @Bronzeswede

No the Gripen can EASILY outmaneuver and out turn the Saab 105 (SK60 is Saab 105, but the name shows that it is the military training aircraft and not the civilian plane (same plane just different call sign)).

For example, a Saab 105 can pull 6G turns max, while the Gripen can easily pull 9G, a HUGE difference. Also, if the Saab 105 could pull harder and tighter turns (which it can't, shown by the Gs) why would you practice on the SK60 and not the JAS39?

  • my brother working whith sk 60 on a fligth repair gymnasium

  • Nice vid, miss those days. :/

  • Det skulle jag också vara!

  • didnt say we cant, the sk60 can turn out both the viggen and the grip,

there are several countries that uses smaller aircraft becuse the can perform a very tight program, Red arrows/Frecce Tricolori and dont forgett the russians White and red sparks, ill bet we can but dont think we want.

  • Yes but thay can improve, make better shovs,be more popular...they are already good.Just imagine how good could they be with faster and more manuverable planes such as Vigen or Gripen...they are big planes but if Russians can do it,and Americans can do it,why cant you?

  • The sk 60 is perfect during air shows, it does a tight program, u cant do do that show with a larger aircraft, and it doesn't cost that mutch.
