This shifter is for an S197 Mustang Automatic ('05-'09+). The transmission is a 5-speed, but is actually a 4-speed with OD. So D handles both 4th and 5th gear. So really you can only shift through the direct available 1, 2, and 3, gears, then you have to go into D for 4th and 5th. TCI makes loads of automatic shifters for other transmission models.
