Those Aircraft are worth their weight in Gold
-
Those are two Beautiful Aircraft
-
Yes it was Hinton and he also performed the initial test flights. I'm not sure if other FHC pilots are getting checked out on it. Allen has the 262 under restoration in private.
-
As a member of POF here in Chino CA, I would venture to guess that was Hinton in the FockWulf. I hope these Luftwaffe a/c make a showing at the POF Airshow sometime soon.
Love these a/c. I think Paul Allen bought our Me262 for his collection too from the POF hangar.

looks like it has Nowotny's markings. . . which is great

8:05, beautiful landing

The pilot passed away during the same year that the wreck was discovered in 1989. I have not read if he was told that his plane was found. His son provided photos, log books, and other info for the restoration. Another Russian discovery has been in restoration for many years, but the Luftwaffe pilot for that aircraft also passed away before the restoration can be finished.

imagine the reaction of the german pilot if he would have known his FW-190 would be found..restored and fly again after 70years!! lets hope he is still alive..

@frazz109 From the FHC website: This Fw 190 was built in 1943 and factory-modified for ground attack duties. Fighting on the Eastern Front, the aircraft was assigned to Jagdgeschwader (fighter wing) 54 near Leningrad. On July 9, 1943, while attacking a Soviet supply train, the plane crashed. The pilot became a prisoner in Russia, but his plane remained untouched and hidden by acres of impassable wetland and a growing forest of young saplings.
Paint was also added "in the field'

What was falling out of the sky at 6:12 in the video? Great flying by Steve and Bud, as usual!

@weedeaterbike Good questions. These aircraft actually both feature as much original WWII equipment as possible, including gauges that are in German. The aircraft don't travel very far (if they go beyond their home airport of Paine Field at all) so they do not have any GPS units built into them. The FW has a digital display for engine data that's not actually built into the instrument panel, but everything else is as it would have been during WWII.
