    Good Research.

I'm also surprised most people are unaware that MoT history back to 2005 is available online. Including mileage and advisory items, you need a reference number from either current MoT or log book. It can be worrying looking up a car you've already bought. Now I know of this I wouldn't buy a car without checking first. If the seller won't give you the numbers walk away. Easy search is "MoT History" - first result on Google.

  • Interesting to look on the DVLA database and see what's become of the cars featured in the series. The Anglia at the beginning hasn't been taxed/SORNed since 1996 so is still awaiting that restoration! The Minor is off the road, as is the Herald. Can't find any trace of the Standard 8. The old lady's Riley Elf is still taxed and on the road. I suspect some of the static cars are museum exhibits as the black Minor hasn't been taxed since 1987 and the Elf 1984.

  • Thanks for uploading this. I remember this series well (have it on some ropey videotapes somewhere) from when I was about 12 or 13, and have the book that accompanied the series. It's what started off my love of classic cars. I'm now in my mid-20s and have never driven anything but Morris Minors.

I think there were a few other series like this, narrated by John Peel. I've got a number of episodes of 'classic aircraft' on tape, plus one of 'classic trucks'. Not sure if there were any more.
