サヨナラ, 香港スターフェリー紅磡線 航路に終止
Ferry services from Hung Hom to Wan Chai and Central will end after Friday (31 Mar 2011) due to a fall in the number of passengers.
The licenses for the two routes, which The Star Ferry Company has been operating for 12 years, will expire on Thursday. No other operators have responded in the two rounds of tendering.

The end came as more and more commuters took to the MTR and buses to cross the harbor.

Ito Katsuhiro, who has been taking the ferry daily to work in Wan Chai for the past eight years, said he will miss its peace and calm.

"I usually use the 10-minute journey and the waiting time for the ferry to catch up on my reading but on a bus or train, it would be more difficult," he said.

Ferry staffers said a chapter in their lives will end.
