Michael Surran presents how Free / Open Source software can be used to enhance school computer labs, networks, and staff workstations. This ACSI seminar focuses on "What is FOSS?" and deals with the benefits, hurdles, and real-life testimony of a system administrator who has been using FOSS in a school setting for nearly 5 years (at the time this video was filmed).

  • open source programs are awesome! :D

  • Open-source FTW.

At my school they use Macs (damn Macs ):)

I use Fedora and I'm attempting to use Gentoo (currently installed in a chroot which I can access with the chroot command).

Nice job using 21 same computers using distcc and a big server to contain everything and then use them to be all on the same server (sarcastically) while no one knows how it works (or I think) so then no risk of being hacked. I think Gentoo is the best and keep on the good job!!! School is finished, no Macs for me
