Weight is 100 Kgs

Meant to do Clean and jerk but due to wrist iInjury focused on Pulls for Snatch (Snatch is awful at the moment), focusing on getting the correct start position, rasing the bar with the hips and power through the second pull to "feel" the bar correctly at the top position.

  • Oh right.. yea seemed most sensible way! Ah, its a very specific thing, you need to find what is right for you based on what you are currently doing, how often to train, your goals, and prior experience with the movements.

  • @mikeyburger1 Nice! That's how I meassured my vertical jump too but I think the NFL method is more exact because it is harder cheat on while jumping. Been focusing on getting my frontsquat 1RM high lately for cleaning. I only power clean but I think it's going to help anyway.

I would love to hear about how you do your programming and what works best? I've been looking at various olympic weightlifting programs on the internet but don't know which programs are best :)

  • Well as I say it WAS 3.5 meters, but yea I was always very good at that sort of thing. Like I said though its only an approximation. I know my best 3 jump tripple jump (from stand) was 10.45 meters. Good, squats are good, I have found the conditioning sets really helpful as well!!. Yea I wanted to know exactly how high I could jump so I came up with a methord. I would jump onto a stack of discs except when I landed, my body and legs had to be straight and upright, that way was fair.

  • @mikeyburger1 3.5 meters is amazing! I've only done 3.15! World record as far as I know is 3.71. Would love to see it on video, though it is more impressive to see in real life of course :) I think my verical is around 0.9 to. I need to a lot more of olympic lifting been focusing on squats lately!!

  • never tried boxjump, only vertical jump and standing longjump. My best vertical jump is something like 0.9 meters... my best standing long jump is about 3.5 meters

  • :). Yea its more just to get an idea, if you go into the science of it it becomes too complicated in the end I think. I never had a coach either. Well I suppose as long as I point things out correctly that often go wrong then this should help, I will try and do one for clean and jerk when my wrist is better.

  • @mikeyburger1 Thanks! When you don't have a coach stuff is not always obvious :) I was of course aware of the simularities between the lifts but not sure as to the differences besides the obvious ones. Any kind of technical video would be helpful and of interest to me, but maybe more a general video and typical mistakes than a video of your particular mistakes :)

Performance wise I would like to see what you can boxjump and standing longjump, since I use the lifts to get explosive :)

  • Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful, someone asked me for this and only just realised the other day out of my 1000 odd video's never made a technical one, so here it is :). Yea, any particular requests, squat performance, olympic lifts, jerks etc?

Okay I will see what I can do, the clean really is similar just with a higher start position

  • Good video! Make more of these please! It was really help to me, since I don't have a coach and use the lifts for conditioning, Would like to see one where you did the same evaluation of the clean!

  • Nice and light then today... lol!! Keep it up, mr strong :D
