Check you history. You'll find the North had and has plenty of racism. The war wasn't all about slavery . It had a lot to do with economics.

One of my great great grandfathers faught for the North and there is written documents how he testified against a group of Nothern soldiers that were killing slaves just for the sake of killing.

There were alot of good people in the south that didn't beleive in slavery and lot of Yankees that did.
