Saturday, September 12th, Sooke Coastal Explorations based in Sooke, BC went out for a bird watching tour to Swiftsure Bank, located about 20 miles off-shore from Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island.
Leaving Sooke at 5:30am, it took us a couple of hours to reach our destination, but not until we stopped at least half a dozen times in the Juan de Fuca strait to watch various sea birds on the water and flying around.
Once we arrived up in Port Renfrew, we witnesses over 40 Humpback Whales, hundreds of Sea Lions and many, many different types of Sea-Birds. We enjoyed a few hours floating around Swiftsure Bank, taking pictures and video of all the different sea life to be found in these waters.
