  • eartha was an amazing woman. stuggles and hardship did not hold her back...she did not believe in barriers...and she proved it...she was and is still an amazing woman

  • One of the most amazing and inspirational humans ever. pure awesome.

  • Brava Brava Eartha !!!

    Cheers Mr. Chip's

  • Eartha Kitt is one of the reasons I was inspired to get involved in theater. My introduction to her was through "The Emperor's New Groove" where she voiced Yzma, and I later discovered the dozens of other wonderful work she's done and read her autobiographies and found her to be a truly fascinating, amazing woman. I even wrote to her and she was gracious enough to send a reply. I will always have a great respect for her. RIP, Eartha. We love you.

  • Incredible beauty, elegance, dignity and brains. She stood up for what she believed in. She was a real inspiration, never "just" a sex symbol. Eartha Kitt was so loved in Europe, but I am glad she got to go home. Rest in Peace Ms Kitt.

  • Her speaking voice sounds incredibly young. It didn't get deeper the way most other singers do as they age. I saw her perform live in the nineties and her singing voice hadn't aged either, it was really stunning and strong. She had good genes.

  • Perhaps, in 2008, at the height of her appearances in the media and to the world, her soul was finally accepted and was ready to leave this place. As sad as that sounds, I really hope it is true and I really hope that she finally felt loved and accepted. It always shook me, every past interview, when she cried. I love you Eartha and I will always accept you <3

  • Does anybody know what did that young man give Eartha while she was giving her speech? I can't make out what it is?

  • thats a good comment that person made she died shortly after this and was making alllllot of appearences everywhere and never looked or sounded ill i wonder if she knew too

  • This speech captures Eartha at her most wittiest, insightful and profound. I would love to see the rest of it. Its remarkable she died within a couple of months after receiving her award, because she looks healthy and radiant and her delivery is clear and focused. She was also appearing at the Carlyle Hotel at the time. I wonder if she knew she was suffering from terminal colon cancer?
