The Dr. Manhattan Effect

This was more of an experiment to see if it was achievable in After Effects. I tried recreating my own version of the scene from the Watchmen, where Dr. Manhattan disassembles an army tank and crushes it into a ball of scrap metal with his mind. The original movie did this using CGI, motion sensors, giant blue LED lights and other fancy expensive equipment. This version may not be as realistic, but it was my first attempt at the effect using After Effects CS3 and a green-screen, which is much cheaper and less complicated. At first I was kind of making up and discovering my own methods as I did this, but I can see now that this effect can be done quite easily if you know what you're doing. I'm positive that I can do much better, so I may be doing some more VisualFX very soon.
